Spring/Summer 2013 pictures (finally)

No fancy title but the "finally" is because its long overdue . I haven't done a proper shoot for 2 years now and Im no expert , still learning . And thorough the future photo shoots will go back and show how much we gotten better. I kept it very simple just a few decor I had in my craft room and some shabby blankets . With our small car at the time so much can only fit. My hand goes out to all those photographers that do amazing shoot bring out a entire living room sofa or real animals  . I was wore out just taking my stuff from the car to location ( 200 feet? uphill!! ) and not to mention the mom's that pulled the strollers we were sweating before the shoot lol .  What a experience.

I want to thank all the models that took the time from their busy schedule to come out and Eric the photographer . When I posted looking for models I was so blessed to meet to ladies with shops of their own that this ended up being a collaboration shoot . How could I say no , it was a load off from me and parents to worry on what colors or outfits to wear.Clothing worn on the young models , ruffle rompers and dresses are from Michele shop The Cutest Boutique ,cute shop you must all check out and her prices are much reasonable than what I seen from other shops. Statement necklaces from her friend Amber shop Glitzy Necklace Boutique  .  Amber shipped us some adorable bright necklaces and Michele brought  a huge selection of items , we sadly didn't use all because we had a few models that didn't show up but it was fun and these girls were so great of course Michele had snacks to keep them smiling ;) You'll see more pictures of the shoot through my instagram , facebook page and in the shop . And will be having a fun collaboration giveaway later this month , you wont want to miss it .

Accessory of the month

So those on Fb saw my new project post last night.

I have seen over the past few months the famous deal sites where shops offer a item/s at a reduce price . Well I have tried many times to get accepted . A few said no that my items didn't fit their site and others gave me too many request ( % between site and me was not reasonable  , amount of items i had to have available was to high for me , we're talking 100's ) . My prices are pretty reasonable as they are and lowering them to what some asked was like I was basically making them for free .  Also the fact that ( if you are new to Austenland) I , Paulina am the owner , designer , creator , maker , shipper , organizer . This is a one person shop , not like many shop  that are run by 3-5 people , being friends , relatives. Their is only so much my two hands can do & hiring isnt really a option I can do at the moment. I love knowing that what I ship was design by me , inspected by me and knowing I sent a 100%+ finished product not worry if maybe something was missed .
So I decided that I want to offer my amazing followers the chance to get a item at a reduce price but not through a 3rd party site , directly from me .  This allowed me to be the  one with full control and set my own rules and amount I know I can commit to .
Each 1st of every month for 24 hrs ( 12:00 am PST - 11-59 pm PST) one special design will be one sale with a 30-50% discount from its regular price. Their will be a limited quantity of  15-30 available , depending how many I can make of that one item . Its first come bases , so if amount sells out before the end of day , no more quantities be added  . This deal will be only be available through  etsy shop under  " Item of the month " section, this allows all facebook and Instagram followers the chance to get even share . Don't have Paypal ? No worries the debit / credit card is second option available in the shop   .I do ask to read entire description , since some items will need to choose hardware and some will be certain size only . These items will not be ready to ship like the rest of the items but will ship around the 10-15th of the month . Due it being a sale and I will be making them according to the amount of orders. Note each month will be a diff accessory.

New products to the shop

If your following me on facebook or instagram you probably seen my new items. How are you liking them ?

New style pieces 

first of these new over the top and extra detail pieces are to much fun . If you have followed me for awhile know im not a fan of feathers and if i do use their most likely peacock feathers. But after testing and trying out the puffy feathers I really was happy with it. I will only do a certain amount of theses because I am not a industry and I want to keep them unique and one of a kind. Also they can be hair clip , brooch pin/clip just make sure you leave me a note at checkout .

My next product the crowns is a very special product that started last June . a sweet friend of mine was having a Paris 1st Birthday and wanted something special . of course I thought a pink headband , but she suggested something else . so i thought what to kids wear on birthdays are usually hats and I was going for the traditional cone shape hat but since the guest where wearing hats I had to erase that idea. and then princess crown came to my mine . Her first hat was made of scarpbook print paper then I added all types of flowers i make in all kinds of material. Second was a all felt crown with same details.

I love the way the crowns came out being my first time trying it and wanted to add them to my shop but their was things I had to think about , if your a handmade shop owner you probably understand and can relate . My big worries was how was it going to ship , postal service is one thing we cant control so even if it fits you have to think can it be damage . the shipping in boxes was on choice but also that ment shipping cost would go up and I always think of my customers income. Another issue is both crown were diff size and shape  if I wanted to sell a product I want it to be for all ages or to fit the most I can instead of making by size . And probably the last big concern was supplies and cost . Will I be going my way to much just to make one piece what more supplies will I be adding to my already long list.
I came up with a few back in the fall and sold them at the shows I had . They were okay and I gave them very cheap . but they still needed work after may couldn't buy because small details . back to the drawing board .
And so finally fixing and redoing a few I am very happy with the result . For one thing I can ship these the same way I do all items ( yay no over cost to you) and they are a one size fits all ! how to wear them will be your choice . Either you choose the ribbon tie where youll tie a bow in back to fit size desire or headband lace or soft elastic . the piece itself is 10 inches and which ever style to choose it can fit any size head and it will last longer. So if your wanting this as a prop to your photography you dont have to worry it will only fit a certain age. if this is for a party this makes a great dress up accessory after.
While I will make onlya few at a time custom orders are welcome all the time I ask at least 3 week prior to event.

Spring shows . come see me and my favorite shops

Its that time again ! spring craft shows . I always look forward to each season shows , each one is very diff , new ,trendy styles , new shops , new talents and new friends  and reunion with my crafty friends . And that being said the crazyness has started although I am proud to say after each season and each show I learn more on how to prefect and improve for the next one. I been working since January getting ready. I have a new booth set up , and this time I think I won't see myself working at 5 am the day of the show.

starting this week I start with a event in the city of Ontario with my dear friend Monique and her shop La Monique Boutique at Socal Ladies Ministries March 7-9.

Following I double booked starting with the first show of  Scarlet Threads Boutique a women's consignment event and not only did I clean out my closet with items I no longer use or never worn and probably wont ever . Their will be a Austenland  booth  in the boutique area. since this a women's event I will have more adult age appropriate accessories . So if your in near Redlands come shop.Not only a place to just shop I seen the post on the activities going all those days . Im excited to not only be a vendor but a shopper.





Sew Funky Market this one is dear to my heart because its my first public show I did  summer 2011 and I have  been able to attend every show since , it has outgrown and we now are in a new location double in size which means double the vendors. A variety of handmade items for anyone , honestly I am in awww with all the shops that come here each season I always enjoy coming home with a handful of new goodies.  March 16th in the city of Corona .

and Penelope Lane Boutique  is one you go and you wont want to miss out on.  I started going last year during their summer show. and I was happy to be a returning vendor during the fall and holiday shows and looking forward to their Spring one. & this is one you want to be their all day because of the 30 min giveaways . who doesn't like free stuff ? right ? .


 I enjoy meeting other talented people and to actually see their work , touch it , try it on. so much better then scrolling down on etsy. And not only that but you become friends with.

The famous wraps are so fun to wear  I wear them all the time ( yes I wear other handmade products) and always asked where I got them from. Their are so many prints youll want one of each. along with felt bows and puffy flowers this are the ones any age can wear them

Bubbas Basics the all boy shop . This ladies make the best handmade stuff for boys of all ages. Those peg dolls are the best and attire for boys tops and hats. But each time this two moms will surprise you with new items last time I saw them they were working on monsters. can't wait to see what they created this season.

V-day Mug Swap

I love reading blogs ! But I'm not a full time blogger ,see the last time I posted 2 months ago and usually is about giveaways or recap on a craft show. It's all the time I spend reading that by the time I get to think about post I can't find something half as good as what I read .
So while I journey on finding my own way of blogging I enjoy all the ladies who blog and that brings me to today's post .

I been following Rags to Stitches   & Sew Caroline I actually saw Alissa a few years ago when she had her shop open and I loved her pouches . Caroline I love her sewing post and she is a inspiration to perfect my sewing skills. Anyways they team up for the annual mug swap and I had read about it long time ago . I needed to jump on the party this time around. I had been paired up with Erin . This is why I love the networking world so many people you meet. Erin blog is a must follow ! I love her creativity and her way with paper crafts and art. funny is that that is not my area ( if you purchase from me you know my tags and cards fail ) So buying for her was a fun adventure we are both so diff but at the same time it was so much fun shopping for someone you only know via instagram and Blog , you can see what I got her on her blog. I found a fun tea pot and added a few paper items from my favorite etsy shops, added some tea plus I couldn't forget her favorite candy . I wanted to give her a bit from my shop but mostly all my items are shabby chic , vintage inspired . although I love prints I found that perfect bright infinity scarf  Anthro inspired print and bright fun pattern which is what she likes. What did Erin sent me ? she sent me this white shabby chic mug filled with lace , trim and shabby embellishments its way to adorable that I haven't use my cup because I love the arrangement .

Happy Birthday to the shop with giveaway

Happy birthday to my little shop !!! and it has been a great one of growing and learning. from going just to headbands now much more accessories and Its been a learning and growing journey. I am learning to balance myself and sometimes saying no , to accept mistakes and just make a better from them.

I couldn't thank more my followers for being supportive , understanding and encouraging . To my family who put up with my crafty mess. And to all the other crafty people I have met that have giving pointers and tips on bettering my shop. 

So this year I wanted to do something special not just give a follower a bunch of accessories from my shop Since I started doing craft show the prior year I have met so many Southern California small business owners . This crafty community has been a blessing to my life they encourage me to just keep doing what I like even though people don't understand , to dream big , and to be myself.
